Technological Process

  1. Surface preparation: cleaning, sanding, degreasing, primer application.
  2. Basecoat: spray base color to enhance pattern appearance.
  3. Film layup: float patterned PVA film on water surface and activate with chemical.
  4. Dipping: immerse the plastic part through the film so the pattern wraps the 3D geometry.
  5. Rinse & dry: remove residue and dry parts.
  6. Clearcoat: apply protective lacquer (glossy/matte/satin) and cure.

Restrictions and Precautions

  • Durability depends on primer/clearcoat quality; scratch/chip resistance lower than anodized metal.
  • Not suitable for parts that experience high wear without robust clearcoat.
  • Edge coverage and recesses can be inconsistent; skilled masking and dipping needed.
  • Requires controlled environment (water temp, film handling) for repeatability.
  • Some colors/patterns may require special basecoat for accurate appearance.
