Precision investment casting | Our One-Stop Solutions

Precision investment casting (lost wax casting) is a high-precision metal forming process that creates complex parts with smooth surfaces and high dimensional accuracy. It is ideal for producing high-performance components for industrial, aerospace and mechanical applications.

At FORMEXFABTECH,we offer one-stop services for precision machined parts and surface treatment, supporting your project from raw material to finished products.

Key Characteristics

01.

Complex shapes achievable

Can produce intricate, thin‑wall, and near‑net‑shape parts that are difficult or costly with machining.

02.

Excellent surface finish

  • Smooth and uniform surface quality, reducing the need for secondary machining or polishing.

03.

High dimensional accuracy

Tight tolerances for consistent part quality and better assembly performance.

What is the minimum wall thickness?
  • The minimum wall thickness is typically 0.8–2 mm, depending on material and part structure.
Is investment casting cheaper than CNC machining?
  • For complex, small, or medium-volume parts, investment casting is usually more cost-effective because it reduces material waste and machining time.
What is the difference between investment casting and die casting?
  • Investment casting supports high-temperature alloys, better precision, and smoother surfaces. Die casting is faster and lower cost for high-volume aluminum/zinc parts.
How long does investment casting take?

Lead time is typically 15–30 days, depending on mold making, quantity, and secondary processes like heat treatment or surface finishing.

What materials are used in investment casting?
  • Common materials include stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, titanium, and high-temperature alloys.

As machined

As machined finish is a raw finish that displays machining marks from the machining process. As standard we machine to 3.2Ra, however you can specify the surface roughness down to 0.2Ra.

Laser engraving is a non-contact, precision surface processing technology that uses a high-energy laser beam to ablate, melt, or change the color of the material surface, thereby forming permanent marks, patterns, or textures.

Passivation

The color is most “close to the base material’s original color” and hard to distinguish solely by color.Passivation is a surface treatment process designed to enhance the corrosion resistance of metals—most commonly stainless steel, but also applicable to aluminum, titanium, and other alloys. Its core principle is to create a thin, stable, and inert “passive film” on the metal surface, which acts as a barrier against environmental factors (e.g., moisture, oxygen, chemicals) that cause rust or corrosion.

Painting/Coating

Powder coating is a dry finishing process used to apply a durable, decorative, and protective layer to a wide range of materials—most commonly metals (e.g., steel, aluminum), but also some plastics, wood, or glass. Unlike liquid paints (which contain solvents that evaporate during curing), powder coating uses finely ground particles of resin and pigment that are electrostatically charged, sprayed onto a surface, and then “baked” to melt and fuse into a smooth, uniform film. This process produces a coating that is far more resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, and corrosion than traditional liquid finishes.

Printing

Painting is a process that forms a continuous, uniform film on the surface of substrates (such as metals, plastics, wood, concrete, etc.) using liquid or paste-like paints. Its core purposes are to achieve three key functions: decorative enhancementprotective shielding, and functional reinforcement
